Fahmieda

W.O.M.B.S Certified Birth Doula · Cape Town

For too long, women have been surrendering their power when they birth their babies. I believe every woman — irrespective of her background — deserves a dignified birth experience. The transformation of womanhood to motherhood changes your identity forever.

The phenomenal milestone of childbirth brings along the emergence of a newfound confidence and self-realisation. A traumatic birth has the opposite effect, and unhealed trauma remains with the woman. A doula helps to remove fears which can be the obstacle for your trauma-free birth.

My services are based on "mothering the mother" — free of bias, expectations and cultural norms. I am committed to being there for you, to walk this road on your terms. Whether your birth is in a hospital, at home or in a birthing centre, you deserve the same quality of support.

I have personal and professional experience with premature and preterm babies through my volunteer work at the Kangaroo Care Ward at Mowbray Maternity Hospital. This experience has deepened my understanding of the full spectrum of birth — and the care every family deserves.

My Approach

What I bring
to your birth

🤝

Physical Support

Hands-on comfort measures throughout labour — positioning, massage, breathing support, use of TENS machine and peanut ball, and non-medical pain relief techniques tailored to you.

💛

Emotional Support

A calm, consistent presence throughout your pregnancy, birth and postpartum. Someone who holds space for your fears, your questions and your joy — without judgement.

📖

Informational Support

Evidence-based information so you can make informed decisions about your birth. I help you understand your options, prepare your birth plan, and navigate whatever arises.

👫

Partner Coaching

Partners feel more confident and capable with a doula present. I coach them on how to support you during labour, so they have a meaningful role and feel less helpless.

🌍

Cultural Sensitivity

My care is free of bias, expectations and cultural norms. All women, all backgrounds, all birth choices are welcome. I meet you where you are.

🏠

Postpartum Care

The fourth trimester matters. From breastfeeding to newborn care to birth debrief — I support your family through those tender first weeks at home.
